With a voice that effortlessly bridges classic soul, contemporary R&B, jazz, blues, and gospel, Sharon D. Henderson has spent decades captivating audiences throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. Known for her rich, expressive vocals and heartfelt storytelling, Sharon delivers performances that combine technical excellence with emotional authenticity, creating unforgettable musical experiences for every audience.
Although her musical foundation was built in gospel, Sharon's professional career has flourished across multiple genres, earning her recognition as a versatile vocalist equally at home performing R&B, soul, jazz, pop, blues, and inspirational music. Her distinctive vocal style reflects the influence of legendary soul artists while maintaining a sound that is uniquely her own.
After beginning her professional career with the award-winning Voices of Christ, Sharon expanded her artistic range by joining Source of Light, where she became a featured vocalist performing Rhythm & Blues, reggae, jazz, and contemporary popular music at clubs, festivals, fairs, private events, and community celebrations throughout Northern California. Those performances established Sharon as a dynamic live entertainer with the versatility to connect with diverse audiences.
Throughout her career, Sharon has shared the stage with an impressive roster of acclaimed artists, including internationally renowned guitarist Stanley Jordan, Grammy Award-winning vocalist Patti LaBelle, acclaimed Oakland artist Kev Choice, celebrated Bay Area vocalist Faye Carol, gospel recording artist Arvis Strickling-Jones, and internationally recognized performer Amikaeyla Gaston. She also spent four years as a featured vocalist with Ray McCoy's Luther Vandross Tribute Band, performing regularly at premier venues including Yoshi's Oakland and the Downtown Theatre in Fairfield.
A gifted songwriter as well as performer, Sharon is a BMI-affiliated songwriter whose original music reflects her lifelong passion for creating songs that inspire, uplift, and connect people. Her debut recording, "Through It All", showcased both her vocal artistry and songwriting abilities, while her more recent single, "Think On These Things (Philippians 4:8)" , written and co-produced with gospel recording artist Jamie Hawkins, highlights the spiritual foundation that continues to influence her music. Additional original projects are currently in development.
Sharon's extensive performance experience also includes musical theater productions at San Francisco's renowned Lorraine Hansberry Theatre and sixteen years as a featured soloist with the internationally respected Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir. Her moving performances earned critical acclaim, including praise from the San Francisco Examiner for her stirring a cappella rendition of "Lord, How Come Me Here."
Today, Sharon serves as lead vocalist and booking manager for the Bay Area band Reflection, performing an engaging mix of R&B, soul, jazz, blues, pop, and her signature style of inspirational soul music for concerts, festivals, weddings, corporate events, private celebrations, arts venues, and clubs throughout California.
